Paris
As soon as I stepped out of the airport and took my first breath of European air, I felt like I was floating in an alternate universe. I was very confused with how quiet and calm the area directly outside of the airport was, I am used to walking out of JFK feeling like I am in the Hunger Games mixed with thousands of car horns and cab drivers cursing at each other. I was very impressed with the cab system they had at the airport - there is one line which we waited about 10-15 minutes in. There were 6 bays lined up and a cab pulls into the bay, whoever is next in line goes to that cab, and it is a $35 flat rate to anywhere in Paris - what a deal!
We arrived at our hotel which was so chic and the staff was wonderful. Our first dinner as a group was at a restaurant called Wepler where I had the best burrata in my life. During our first 3 days in Paris, we visited the Sainte Chappel which had breathtaking stained glass windows and immaculate architecture. Walking through the Latin Quarter was a very neat experience - tons of unique shops and restaurants to get lost in. I was very impressed with the subways in France - they were extremely clean! We got to sample a couple different kids of French cheeses at a local cheese shop, and took scenic walks through adorable streets that lead us to the Louvre. We didn't go in the Louvre because my dad forgot his pass, so we took the time to take pictures and take in all of the tourists and locals walking by. We visited the Eiffel tower on our night away from the group - seeing the tower twinkle at night was the most magical moment I've ever experienced.
I loved the breathtaking architecture all of the buildings had - one thing I noticed was there were no screens in any of the windows and it really made all of the buildings more appealing. The flowers were out of this world - every corner you turned the buildings were lined with gorgeous vibrant flowers that could make an abandoned warehouse look beautiful.
